People seek individual therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge.
Individual therapy is a process that will unfold by us working together, exploring and thinking about your difficulties in the context of your life. It promotes curiosity and an interest in feelings, beliefs, behaviours, memories and dreams and how these are connected with your current difficulties. In our work, you will be invited to think about the nature of your relationships (past and present), your experience of yourself and others in various life contexts (work and family life) and how these aspects of your life maybe connected to the difficulties that bought you to therapy. Therapeutic exploration and reflection promote a better understanding of ourselves and others.
We will explore and identify aspects of your life that you would like to better understand and change. It is part of the therapeutic process to facilitate change that is meaningful to you and desired by you.
We may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on your unique needs and personal goals for therapy.
